Service Update 2026
The BruinCard Service Interruption is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 23 at 6:00 a.m. and concluded by the end of the business day.
We’re performing essential maintenance on the BruinCard data system, Transact, in order to continue providing the UCLA community with effective service. Spring Break was selected as an update period in order to minimize cardholder and department impact.
Key BruinCard features that will be unavailable are:
- BruinCard Account Purchases: BruinCard account transactions (Easy Pay, Food Only, etc.) will be unavailable at many on-campus merchants and all off-campus merchant locations.
- BruinCard Production: BruinCards (including healthcare badges) can’t be printed on March 23. We expect production to continue on March 24, during regular business hours.
- Web Services: Most features of bruincard.ucla.edu will be unavailable during the Service Interruption. You won't be able to make deposits online, access E-account, Freeze Card, Update PIN, or submit any form until service resumes.
- BruinCard PHIL Machines: You won't be able to check your balance, purchase a visitor card, or make a deposit on BruinCard PHIL machines.
The following services are expected to remain functional during the Scheduled Interruption:
- Door/Building access
- Library access
- Gym access
- CTO ticket purchases made before the Scheduled Interruption (Den Pass)
BruinCard will be available on call for emergency technical support during the Service Interruption at (310) 825-2336.

We expect student impact to be minimal for students, since building and room access are expected to remain unaffected and UCLA Housing’s dining facilities will be closed during Spring Break.
How to Prepare:
- Payment Alternative: If you frequently purchase meals or other services with BruinCard, please prepare an alternative payment method during the Service Interruption.
- Complete BruinCard Related Tasks: Plan to complete BruinCard related tasks (library printing, laundry, replacing your card, etc.) before or after the Service Interruption.
- Stay Informed: You can check this page to learn when the Service Interruption has been successfully completed.
Each of our campus partners has a unique relationship with BruinCard, and may be impacted differently while we update.
Please plan for the impacts you may encounter during this time by locating your department below.
| ALL DEPARTMENTS | BruinCard Office Services will be unavailable, our team will be unable to process department forms during the Service Interruption. |
| ASUCLA | BruinCard account purchases will be unavailable for all BruinCard readers that do not accept offline transactions. |
| CARE CONNECT | BruinCard images will be unavailable. |
| CENTRAL TICKET OFFICE | Ticket purchases made that need to be placed on BruinCard will not be live until the data job runs on March 24. |
| FACILITIES | Door and building access are expected to remain functional. |
| HOUSING | BruinCard account purchase unavailability will impact all BruinCard readers that do not accept offline transactions. This includes dining & vending BruinCard purchases. Transact will be unavailable during the Service Interruption. |
| LIBRARY | BruinCard readers that do not accept offline transactions will be unavailable, this includes library printing. Library transactions made outside of the BruinCard Transact system will be functional. This includes checking out books, etc. Guests will be unable to purchase library copy cards, check balance, or deposit on BruinCard PHIL machines. |
| MAIL & DOCUMENT SERVICES | Door and building access are expected to remain functional. However, due to overnight hours, your department may consider requesting a backup key in case of any unforeseen technical errors. |
| MED | BruinCard readers that do not accept offline transactions will be unavailable. UCLA Med will also be unable to print healthcare badges in any location. |
| OFF CAMPUS MERCHANTS | All off-campus BruinCard financial readers will be unavailable. |
| SATELLITE OFFICES | BruinCard/Healthcare Badge production will be unavailable. Transact system services will be unavailable. |
| SCHOOL OF LAW | BruinCard readers that do not accept offline transactions will be unavailable. BruinCard images will be unavailable. Library printing will be unavailable, however, library services will remain functional (checking out books, etc.). |
| STUDENT AFFAIRS | BruinCard images will be unavailable. |
| TRANSPORTATION | BruinCard readers that do not accept offline transactions will be unavailable. Transact will be unavailable. |
| UCPD | Please remain informed about our upgrade in case of any unforeseen technical errors. |

- BruinCard Office online form processing, or online photo processing (requests submitted after service deadline will experience a completion delay)
- BruinCard PHIL machine functions
- Reports/Data jobs will not run (new building access will not reflect, CTO purchases)
- BC Images will be unavailable

- RRH Dining Commons
- SMH Café
- Library system services (checking out books, etc.)
